Ante

In ancient times, it was said that "all roads lead to Rome" - both metaphorically and literally.  Where the world's current road network is centred is probably more contentious, and some would say changeable.

However, there is (I hope anyway), little doubt that in a few months my own personal road will eventually, circituitously and after quite a few kms roll into the old Imperial City.  It was never really articulated in the proverb what happened after you got into Rome, but I'm rather hoping that the road does in fact lead on somewhere else from there these days, as I don't feel quite done yet.

The new passport arrived in the mail last week (well done Justine for checking the expiry date...!), and the nurses at the local travel doctor have just about finished their advanced injection regime on my left arm.  We've booked accommodation and tours, and gleefully done the "I'll see you in Lisbon" thing with our travel companions.  Aside from any actual packing, we are looking pretty organised.

So this blog will be the repository of all my witty observations and pithy social commentary, my exhausted rants and drunken rambles - with maybe the odd photo thrown in for good measure.

The itinerary is a week in Lisbon, a 7-day tour around Morocco, and then 10 days or so in and around Rome.  They are all places that have called out to me since my childhood learnings of seafarers and conquests, and with Justine's similar interests, it was a very easy itinerary to put together this time.

Let's hope it all unfolds as smoothly and as enjoyably as we imagine...
